I've been a pro audio engineer for about 15 years. I live and work in NYC, and I travel when necessary.
My first love is making rock records. I also spend a lot of time doing broadcast, live recording, and crew work. I'm comfortable working with most anything: vintage consoles in $2500/day rooms, basement ProTools rigs, 2" 24-track, live-to-2 jazz and classical, three month rock lockouts, jingle sessions, whatever.
I'm the chief engineer at Kampo in Greenwich Village. I work regularly as a crew member on ABC's Good Morning America, on the Record Plant Remote truck, and I freelance when I can. I spent a long time at the now defunct NYC Hit Factory, but we don't like to talk about that.
Here's my allmusic page.
These shows started out as modest audio-only, live-to-2 performances at Kampo, intended for AOL's budding music section. They have since expanded to 4-5 camera shoots on the biggest soundstages, multitracking to Protools and mixing on zillion-input Neve and SSL consoles. I've had the opportunity to work at almost all of the major studios in NYC - Sony, Hit Factory, Right Track, Quad, Platinum Sound, Avatar.
I've done tons of these, engineering and mixing...
Sting. 50 Cent. Norah Jones. Evanescence. Alanis Morrissette. Story Of The Year. My Chemical Romance. Gavin DeGraw. Morcheeba. Jewel. Robert Plant. Hawthorne Heights. Simple Plan. Blondie. Montgomery Gentry. Shannon Brown. Big & Rich. Kanye West. Jamie Foxx. Joss Stone. Sugarland. Rascal Flatts. Lonestar. Jet. Damian Marley. James Taylor. The Donnas. Jace Everett. My Morning Jacket. John Mayer. Ludacris. Alicia Keys. Paul Westerberg. Vanessa Carlton. Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Pink. Puddle of Mudd. Dave Brubeck. Keith Urban. The Killers. Lindsay Lohan (hah!). Breaking Benjamin. Faith Evans. Al Green. Dierks Bentley. Sheryl Crow. Train.
You can hear and see these recordings on the AOL Sessions site.
I tracked, edited, and mixed these in studios around NYC.
PJ Harvey. Anthony Hamilton. Sheryl Crow.
Live to broadcast from Kampo in NYC. I engineered and mixed.
Morcheeba. Supergrass. Ryuichi Sakamoto. Tindersticks. Cousteau.
Not much mixing - mostly problem solving, tape op'ing, and interfacing with the artist's crew.
Albums: Simon & Garfunkel Old Friends DVD/CD. Kiss Rock the Nation DVD. Billy Joel 2000 Years CD. Dar Williams Out There Live CD. Dream Theater Live Scenes from New York CD. Bela Fleck & The Flecktones Live at the Quick CD/DVD. Matchbox 20 Show - A Night In The Life of Matchbox 20.
Tapings for TV broadcast: CMA Music Festival (ABC Exclusive Broadcast 8/2/05). Kenny Chesney - Somewhere in the Sun (ABC Exclusive Broadcast 11/23/05). Michael Jackson - 30th Anniversary Concert (2001 Madison Square Garden). La Nueva Estrella Awards (WCBS 2 NY Broadcast).
Other notables: Rolling Stones at Fenway Park 2005. Recording from inside Brushy Mountain State Prison for Mark Collie documentary. Garth Brooks on the Navy aircraft carrier Enterprise. Tito Puente: Mambo Birdland (Grammy winner).
Mostly crew member work, doing "everything but running the actual broadcast mix". I've done so many from ABC's Times Square studio that I can't remember all of them - not surprising given the time of day. Some notable sessions:
Remotes: Concert Summer Series from Bryant Park (since 2002). Faith Hill live from Fort Bragg. Bon Jovi live from Miami Beach.
My mixes that have gone to air: Clay Aiken. Wynonna Judd. Jamie Foxx. Rick Springfield. 5 For Fighting.
